Terence Kongolo will probably exchange the Championship for the Premier League. According to Football Insider Fulham is in far-reaching negotiations with Huddersfield Town about a transfer of the 26-year-old defender. The London club has reportedly been working on a deal to attract the center-back for at least a month.

Clubs from the Premier League and Championship may trade players with each other until this Friday, October 16, 6:00 PM (Dutch time). Kongolo is allowed to leave from Huddersfield Town. The club have to cut salaries after relegation from the Premier League last year. Football Insider reports Tuesday that there is a breakthrough in the negotiations and that Kongolo is expected to make the switch before Friday.

Fulham has the arrival of an extra defender at the top of the wish list. Manager Scott Parker’s team has lost the first four Premier League games and has already conceded eleven goals. The club wants to maintain itself at the highest level and therefore recruiting a defender is desperately needed. Kongolo is no stranger to Fulham. In the second half of last season he was already rented to by Huddersfield the Cottagers. Due to a foot injury, he played for Fulham only twice.

Kongolo made the switch from AS Monaco to Huddersfield Town in 2018 for twenty million euros. This season he did not play for the current number nineteen of the Championship. According to manager Carlos Corberan, this has not only to do with Kongolo’s physical condition. According to the trainer, the transfer perils surrounding his person are also a reason that he has not yet played. Kongolo becomes a teammate of Kenny Tete at Fulham.
