Manchester United are willing to pay the ten million euros escape clause for Dominik Livakovic, writes Sportske Novosti. The Croatian sports daily relies on ‘well-informed sources’ and takes an advance on the deal by stating that ‘the millions are smiling at Dinamo Zagreb’. Livakovic put himself in the spotlight with many European top clubs with an excellent World Cup. His name was also associated with Ajax last winter.
The 41-time international of the Vatreni showed himself to be an extremely reliable goalkeeper throughout the tournament in Qatar. Especially the matches against Japan (eighth final) and Brazil (quarter final) stood out, where Livakovic made numerous important saves to ensure that Croatia always won after penalties. Partly because of this, the country finished third, which did not go unnoticed abroad.
Numerous top clubs wanted to add the Croatian to their keeper base after the successful World Cup. Manchester United, which is looking for a serious competitor to David de Gea, seems to be the main candidate. The price tag of the World Cup star is especially interesting. United and De Gea are also still unable to agree on a new contract. The Spaniard deserves a god’s fortune, as a result of which the Mancunians feel compelled to reduce salary. De Gea is now on a weekly salary of £ 375,000 (425,000 euros). At the end of March, the goalkeeper rejected a proposal from United.
