Manchester United’s line-up for the FA Cup game against West Ham United has been announced. On Wednesday evening, manager Erik ten Hag sends a significantly changed team into the field compared to the EFL Cup final won by Newcastle United (2-0). Of the eleven names that last Sunday, only David De Gea, Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Antony and Wout Weghorst keep their respective places. The match starts at 8.45 pm and can be seen on Ziggo Sports Select.

Ten Hag has decided to change his squad in no less than six places after taking his first prize with Manchester United. Lisandro Martínez and Raphaël Varane make way at center back for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf respectively, while Tyrell Malacia starts at left back at the expense of Luke Shaw. In midfield, Casemiro and Fred are replaced by Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzer; Fernandes will keep his place. Weghorst is at the forefront and has Antony standing next to him on the right. On the left flank, Marcus Rashford is replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.

Immediately after the EFL Cup final won, Ten Hag pointed to the game against West Ham. The Mancunians get the chance to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening and so there is new success for Ten Hag, who also has a chance to win the Premier League and Europa League with his team. Man United are confidently heading into the game at Old Trafford. Not only thanks to the good form, but also because it won its last two games at home against West Ham 1-0. Marcus Rashford was the match winner both times. Luke Shaw and Fred did not come out of the EFL Cup final completely unscathed and were a question mark for the game against West Ham for a long time. The injured Christian Eriksen, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek are missing.

West Ham seem to have got the good feeling back just in time. After three games without a win the Hammers away at Nottingham Forest in the final phase on Saturday: 4-0. Danny Ings was responsible for the first two goals in that game, but the striker is not there at Old Trafford. Ings, who made the switch to West Ham in January, played in the FA Cup for Aston Villa earlier this season and is therefore not allowed to participate. Manager David Moyes also has to do without Lukasz Fabianski and Vladimir Coufal. That pair suffered a broken cheekbone and a heel injury against Nottingham respectively. West Ham’s last cup match at Old Trafford ended well for the Londoners. At the end of September 2021, it became 0-1 in the EFL Cup after an early goal by Manuel Lanzini.

Manchester United line-up: DeGea; Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia; McTominay, Sabitzer; Fernandes, Antony, Garnacho; Weghorst.

Lineup West Ham United: Areola; Johnson, Aguerd, Ogbonna, Emerson; Rice, Soucek, Paqueta; Fornals, Antonio, Benrahma.
