Erik ten Hag is satisfied with Facundo Pellistri’s debut. The only 20-year-old attacker from Uruguay made his long-awaited debut in the shirt of Manchester United on Tuesday evening. Pellistri, associated with the English superpower since October 2020, came in six minutes before the end in the 3-0 win against Charlton Athletic in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup.

“He came in very well, had a lot of energy and also had a few good actions,” Ten Hag said about the substitute Pellistri at the subsequent press conference. “He also had a good assist on Marcus Rashford’s second goal and really put his stamp on the game. This is a big step forward for him,” said the winning manager, who spoke briefly to Pellistri after the cup win and handed out compliments for the raid at Old Trafford.

“I really see a future in him and you see him making progress every day,” Ten Hag continues his praise of the young debutant of the Red Devils. “Before the match against Everton (3-1 win in the FA Cup, ed.) We had a training behind closed doors and what he showed then made a big impression on me. At the World Cup, Facundo already did very well for Uruguay He made good progress and is clearly on the right track.” Pellistri would prefer to stay with Manchester United, although Valencia and Flamengo are thinking of a rental deal for the South American attacker.

“We are going to see what is best for him”, Ten Hag briefly discussed the near future of Pellistri, who is fixed in Manchester until mid-2025. According to various English media, Pellistri’s management will soon talk to the club management about future plans to map. Pellistri was loaned twice to Deportivo Alavés and returned to Manchester United last summer.
