Manchester United’s line-up for the FA Cup game with Everton has been announced. Erik ten Hag does not yet have a base place in store for world champion Lisandro Martínez, who recently returned to England. Antony may appear at the kick-off. Tyrell Malacia may appear as left back. Ten Hag chooses Anthony Martial in the center of the front. The Frenchman was still out in the midweek victory over Bournemouth (3-0), but was found to be fit enough to kick off. The game at Old Trafford starts at 9 p.m.

The Reds go against Everton in search of their seventh successive win in all competitions. A clean sheet was also kept in all matches after the World Cup. That is remarkable, because United in those games, except for David de Gea, never played with the same names in the back. Ten Hag is now also making changes in the FA Cup match with Everton compared to the Premier League match with Bournemouth.

Diogo Dalot takes over from Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the back right. Luke Shaw and Raphaël Varane form the central duo and Malacia, who did not come off the bench against Bournemouth, covers the left flank. The former Feyenoord player therefore starts for the fourth time in the last five games in the base. The midfield block is formed by Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.

In the front, Antony returns to the right after he had to miss the midweek game. Captain Bruno Fernandes plays on ten and the good form Marcus Rashford takes place on the left. The Englishman was accurate against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth once. Martial had to leave the field against Bournemouth after 69 minutes, but is still fit enough to start.

The last two trophies United won were in the Jose Mourinho era. In the 2016/17 season, the club won the EFL Cup and the Europa League. Since then, United have finished second in the Premier League twice, reached the FA Cup final and a Europa League final once without expanding their trophy collection. Ten Hag thinks it is still too early to think about a prize, even though his team is where ‘they want to be’. “My main focus is to improve the team. We have many elements in our game that we need to improve,” said the trainer.
