Erik ten Hag and the Manchester United players are “hugely disappointed” with the interview Cristiano Ronaldo gave to Piers Morgan. The way the Portuguese spoke and especially the timing of the interview were very bad for both his trainer and fellow players. According to journalist Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports they only heard of the interview just before the return flight to Manchester after the game against Fulham.

After the Premier League game won 1-2 against Fulham in London, the selection and staff of the Red Devils back to Manchester on Sunday evening. In the interview that Ronaldo gave to reporter Morgan, he lashed out at Ten Hag and the club. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has said, among other things, that he has no respect for his current coach and that he feels betrayed by United. Former teammate Wayne Rooney and ex-trainer Ralf Rangnick were also hit hard.

According to Solhekol, the club is exploring all options regarding Ronaldo’s future in Manchester. In all likelihood, the Portuguese’s days at Old Trafford seem numbered. “The board and his teammates don’t understand why Ronaldo said what he said. They are deeply disappointed that he would disrespect the club, his manager and teammates in this way,” de Solhekol wrote on Twitter.

Ronaldo was told by Ten Hag last Thursday that he would not be in the starting lineup against Fulham. He would, however, be part of the selection for the away game. After that news reported CR7 feel sick at the club. “Despite all the events surrounding the Portuguese in recent months, there is no one at the club who has ever spoken a bad word about Ronaldo or disrespected him,” Solhekol said. “Not even after he asked to leave last summer and not even after Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute for Tottenham Hotspur.” A winter departure now seems to be the only solution for the attacker. Last summer there was no club that wanted to do business with him.
