Kenneth Taylor was again whistled at by his own supporters against NEC (2-2) on Sunday afternoon. The Ajax midfielder receives support afterwards ESPNanalyst Kees Kwakman, who is completely fed up with the behavior of the crowd in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. “Players should continue whistling like that…” Kwakman says sarcastically.

Taylor was substituted for Ar'Jany Martha after 65 minutes against NEC. The audience responded with a flute concert. “I really don't think that is possible,” Kwakman responds. “You can think all kinds of things about Taylor and you can be critical of him, but you don't.”

“A player who is substituted and half the stadium starts whistling… You just don't do that. I find that so terrible.”

Taylor certainly did not lack commitment, says Kwakman. “You can't say about Taylor that he isn't trying his best. He's making a lot of sense. This actually happened on Thursday (against FK Bodø/Glimt, ed.). You could also see from Taylor that he was having trouble with it. ”

Taylor is not the first person to have this happen to him in the ArenA. “They should have learned from Daley Blind, who had that happen to him, and look what he did for the club afterwards.”

Kwakman is referring to Blind's whistle shortly after his breakthrough into the first team. The Girona defender was also whistled at in his second period at Ajax after a substitution against Feyenoord in 2022.
