NAC Breda booked a convincing victory in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday evening. The team of trainer Peter Hyballa won 4-1 at home against MVV Maastricht thanks to a hat-trick by Elías Már Ómarsson, his first goals in Breda’s service. Ruben van Bommel balanced the score beautifully before the break. With the victory, NAC climbs to seventh place.
NAC had the better of the game in the opening phase. The Pearl of the South created several chances and took the lead after twenty minutes of play. Matthew Garbett found Ómarsson, who was able to turn away from his direct opponent and then scored: 1-0. MVV then came alongside in a beautiful way. Jarne Steuckers delivered to Van Bommel. The wing attacker found the top right corner with a placed shot: 1-1. It was already his tenth league goal of the season for eighteen-year-old Van Bommel.

MVV was close to 1-2 five minutes before the break, when Koen Kostons hit the post after a lightning-fast counter. The team from Breda managed to run away from the visitors in the first company. Jort van der Sande gave NAC the lead again after cutting and turning a few times. Ómarsson made it 3-1 a few minutes later, although his goal should have been canceled. The Icelander saw his shot being blocked, then got the ball against his hand and then finished.
NAC had little to fear from MVV in the second company for a long time. It was released with a fright in the final phase, after Rowan Besselink almost worked the ball behind his own goalkeeper Roy Kortsmit. The connection goal never came. Ómarsson ended the game early by scoring his hat-trick on a pass from substitute Odysseus Velanas: 4-1.
