The winners of the individual Bronze Champion Shields of the fourth period in the Kitchen Champion Division have been announced. Jizz Hornkamp has been voted Best Player of this period, while the Bronze Championship Shield for Best Keeper is for Helmond Sports keeper Stijn van Gassel, the Kitchen Champion Division announced on Wednesday evening. Ringo Meerveld (FC Den Bosch) and Wil Boessen (Helmond Sport) have been voted Best Talent and Best Trainer respectively. The top scorer of the fourth period is currently unknown.

The results of the ‘Best Player’ and ‘Best Keeper’ elections are based on votes from the coaches and captains of all Kitchen Champion Division clubs and on votes from the supporters. Hornkamp collected the most votes in total and therefore receives the Bronze Championship Shield as Best Player. A special election, because Hornkamp is the first FC Den Bosch player since the 2010/11 season (when John Verhoek won the election) to be elected Best Player of the period.

The other contenders for the Best Player prize were Luuk Brouwers (Go Ahead Eagles), Lance Duijvestijn (Helmond Sport) and Mees Hoedemakers (SC Cambuur), but they lost out to FC Den Bosch striker. Van Gassel has been voted Best Keeper. The Helmond Sport goalkeeper had already been nominated earlier this season, but this time he actually managed to win the prize. It is the first time that Van Gassel has been elected Best Keeper of the period. The goalkeeper was well ahead of his competitors and that is a great achievement. The competition was not tender with Michael Woud (Almere City FC), Mike Havekotte (MVV Maastricht) and Ruud Swinkels (FC Eindhoven) as other contenders.

In addition to the honorary titles Best Player and Best Goalkeeper, Bronze Championship Shields can also be divided into the categories Best Talent and Best Trainer. Meerveld has been voted the Best Talent of the fourth period by trainers and captains on the basis of his achievements in the past period. The eighteen-year-old midfielder of FC Den Bosch made a great impression on the trainers and captain of the Kitchen Champion Division clubs and that is why he receives the Bronze Championship Shield for Best Talent of the fourth period.

The Bronze Championship Shield for Best Trainer of the fourth period belongs to Boessen. The trainer is having an excellent season with Helmond Sport and has now been rewarded by his fellow trainers. It is still a question mark who will win the top scorer title, and thus the Bronze Championship Shield in this category. It is an unprecedented tense battle between Robert Mühren (ten goals) and Hornkamp (nine goals). Mounir El Allouchi is a dangerous outsider, because the midfielder of NAC Breda follows with eight goals.

Tonight, the three players will play for the last time in this period and after that it will be known who the top scorer of the fourth period is. He will receive the Bronze Championship Shield afterwards (or possibly later this week). If two (or more) players score the same number of goals in the period, the number of minutes of play is taken into account. The player who managed to reach the number of goals (in the event of a tie) in the least number of minutes of play will receive the Bronze Championship Shield.
