Top players, but also clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the ins and outs of the football world (almost) every day via Instagram, X or other internet channels. In this edition of VZ Social attention to Steven Berghuis, who visited the Emma Children's Hospital with Ajax and made a heart-warming appointment with one of the sick fans there.

The fan would like Berghuis to celebrate his next goal with a 'griddy', a dance that went viral on social media and quickly translated to the sports world. ESPN shares the endearing images.

“The next time you score, would you like to do a celebration for me?” the fan affectionately asks the wing attacker. Berghuis obviously wants that. “What kind of celebration?” he asks.

“The griddy!”, the fan answers confidently. “But that one is really difficult, isn't it!”, Berghuis laughs, before asking with a demonstrative dance whether that is enough. It does. “Then I will practice it at home and if I score I will do it. Promised, agreed!”, he brightens the fan's day.

John van 't Schip

It was a beautiful but confrontational day for John van 't Schip, he admits ESPN. “For me it is quite a thing. I am back in the Amsterdam Medical Center (AMC) for the first time since my wife died. I have also been here for two weeks in another department. There too I noticed how important it is is that there are people who believe, give you hope or are just there to whom you can tell your story.”
