Sparta Rotterdam once again took three points on a visit to Vitesse. There were no goals for long, but in the last twenty minutes Sparta took the game completely: 0-4. Tobias Lauristen scored twice, while Sven Mijnans and Arno Verschueren each scored one goal. Sparta thus strengthens the sixth place, while Vitesse remains fifteenth for the time being.
Simon van Duivenbooden made his basic debut at Vitesse. The striker replaced Bartosz Bialek, who was not part of the selection due to an injury. Central defender Ferro returned to the match selection with the Arnhem team after an injury, but started on the bench. The visitors started with the same starting eleven as last week against Fortuna Sittard (3-1 win). Shurandy Sambo, Mica Pinto and Lauritsen dropped out during that game, but the three were fit enough to start again in the base against Vitesse.

The first chances of the game were for Sparta. First Daan Reiziger made a stylish save on a free kick by Vito van Crooij, after which the same closing post again prevented Van Crooij from scoring a few minutes later. In the following phase, Vitesse also started to create opportunities, but the attempts of Matúš Bero and Carlens Arcus both ended on Nick Olij’s fists. Just before the break, the Arnhem team were close to the opening goal one more time via Enzo Cornelisse. However, his effort after a free kick was taken off the line by Adil Auassar.
Shortly after the break, Vitesse was close to 1-0 three times via Maximilian Wittek (rescue Olij), Gabriel Vidovic (attempt blocked) and Arcus (shot over). After Vidovic again missed an opportunity halfway through the second half, it was Sparta that completely took over the game in the last twenty minutes. First Lauritsen cleverly turned away from his opponent to score from the inside of the post (0-1), not much later Mijnans shot the ball beautifully into the intersection (0-2) and just before time it was again Lauritsen ( shot from the edge of the penalty area) and Verschueren (on a pass from Mario Engels) who put the final score on the board: 0-4.
