The battle for the title between Manchester City and Liverpool will continue on Saturday. Where both clubs were still in action in the Champions League midweeks, they will continue their hunt for the title in England on Saturday. Since Jürgen Klopp does not hide his frustration about the busy schedule, Pep Guardiola has already resigned himself: “Nothing will change anyway”, the City manager told the club. Daily Mirror

Guardiola understands his fellow coach’s frustration with the busy schedule of the English top teams, but seems to have resigned himself to it. “But how many times have we talked about this already? Nothing changes anyway. The broadcasters only think about what they can do to attract as many viewers as possible. There is no thought of what is best for the teams and for the players. Of course I understand Jürgen’s frustration, but what can I say about it? We will not solve the problem. It is better to put these questions to the competition organizer and the broadcasters,” the City coach is clear about where he thinks the problem comes from.

Josep Guardiola understands Jürgen Klopp’s frustrations over the full schedule.

Returning to the Liverpool manager’s frustration, Guardiola recalls an earlier situation. “As managers, we want the best for the players. We played against Atlético in Madrid and had to play against Liverpool three days later at Wembley.” The trainer of the current Premier League leader seems to have accepted the situation more than Klopp. “Everyone has their own interests and we just have to adapt. If we have to play on Saturday, we play on Saturday. Tuesday game? Fine, we’ll be back on Tuesday. No problem.” The Spaniard then responds to the fact that Liverpool will be in action earlier than City on Saturday, where his team had a day more rest in the midweek than Klopp’s team. “Liverpool will play at half past two on Saturday. Sorry, Liverpool, but there’s nothing I can do about that.”

City are only one point ahead of Liverpool with five rounds to go. Liverpool will go on Saturday afternoon to visit Newcastle United, where kick-off is at half past two. City comes into action a few hours later. Guardiola’s team will visit Leeds United, where the kick-off will take place at 6.30 pm. In the Champions League there is a chance that both teams will decide who will take the title. Manchester City defend a 4-3 lead on a visit to Real Madrid, with Liverpool also traveling to Spain to get rid of Villareal in the other semi-final. Liverpool beat the Spaniards 2-0 in the first leg at home. Klopp’s team will also play the FA Cup final against Chelsea on May 14.
