Sergio Busquets has ‘more or less’ made up his mind about his future at Barcelona. The 34-year-old midfielder stated this on Tuesday evening after the competition match won with Osasuna (1-0) in conversation with DAZN. The club expects the captain to stay for one more season. The Spaniard will announce his decision sometime in the coming days.

Busquets’ contract expires in more than two months, which means that he could look for another employer on a free transfer in the summer. Fabrizio Romano previously reported that the 143-time Spanish international is expected to stay with Barcelona. “I have more or less made up my mind about my future. I now have a few days off and when I come back I will inform the coach”, said Busquets on Tuesday evening.

Xavi hopes that his captain will stick to it for another season. “I’m going to try to convince him,” said the Barcelona coach. “Busquets is very important in the dressing room and crucial for our team. He is tactically the perfect player and I hope he stays. It’s only his choice.” Busquets kicked off Tuesday evening in the home game against Osasuna and was taken off after 75 minutes for Ferran Torres. Barça can become champions on May 14 if it wins a visit to fellow townsman Espanyol.

Busquets’ future at Barcelona has been a topic of discussion in Spain for some time. The midfielder made his debut for the Catalans in 2008 and has played 719 games for the club since then. Inter Miami and Al-Nassr already tried to tempt Busquets into leaving Barça earlier this year, although the Spaniard has consistently stated that he would not make a decision about his future until the end of the season.
