Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital by ambulance late on Saturday night, reports said Catalunya Radio. The 33-year-old striker from Barcelona, who had just returned from a lingering calf injury, suddenly lay on the grass against Deportivo Alavés (1-1) on the stroke of half-time. Agüero was still able to walk off the field independently, but was put in an ambulance a little later.
Agüero grabbed his chest in the 41st minute while lying on the field and appeared to have breathing problems. The Argentinian was treated for minutes and was then substituted. Agüero calmly walked off the field and was further examined in the dressing room by the Barcelona medical staff. His condition turned out to be such that it was decided to take him to hospital. It is unclear how Aguero is doing now.
It was another sour evening for Barcelona, which has already been plagued by injuries this season. In addition to the disappointing result, Barça also saw Gerard Piqué and Nico González step off the field with injuries in the final phase. To make matters worse, Gavi also seemed to be subject to change, although it was not entirely clear whether there was actually an injury.
