Marcos Senesi is still on the radar of Premier League clubs. Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion want to sign the Feyenoord defender during the winter transfer window, journalist Peter O’Rourke reported on Twitter. Senesi still has a contract with Feyenoord until mid-2023. The Argentinian was previously associated with West Ham United, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Leeds United.

Both Newcastle and Brighton are looking for a centre-back to bolster their defence. Senesi is seen by the Premier League clubs as an interesting option, O’Rourke knows, who has more than a hundred thousand followers on Twitter. The Argentinian has a contract with Feyenoord until mid-2023, but Football Insider claims that a €19m bid this winter will be enough to bring in Senesi. Newcastle are looking for two new central defenders after conceding 42 goals in the first half of the season. With this, Newcastle, along with Norwich City, have the most passed defense in the Premier League.

Bids for Lille OSC’s Sven Botman and Sevilla’s Diego Carlos have so far proved inadequate, as both clubs are asking for more than €35 million for their players. Newcastle, on the other hand, already managed to welcome Kieran Trippier. The right-back signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at St. James’ Park and came over from Atlético Madrid for an amount of fourteen million euros excluding bonuses. Like Newcastle, Brighton also has its eye on Senesi. The Seagulls are still looking for a replacement for Ben White, who left for Arsenal last summer for 58 million euros.

Journalist Graeme Bailey reported last month that West Ham United, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Leeds United kept an eye on Senesi during the first half of the season. Feyenoord has been trying to extend Senesi’s contract for some time, but so far without success. The Argentinian defender is an undisputed basic player for the Rotterdam team under coach Arne Slot and played 28 games in the first half of the season, in which he was good for 2 goals and 3 assists.

Should Senesi actually make a transfer this winter, Riechedly Bazoer could well be his replacement. Regardless of the departure of the Argentinian, the Rotterdammers are in the market for the 25-year-old defender annex midfielder from Vitesse. According to the Gelderlander however, it seems that Vitesse is not willing to let his tastemaker go. Where Bazoer made an impatient impression last summer, he now seems to have resigned himself to serving his contract.
