Sean Klaiber may have suffered a serious knee injury on Thursday, so knows The Telegraph. The 26-year-old right back of Ajax had to stop the training camp in Austria and is transferred to Amsterdam. An examination in the hospital should determine the exact nature of the injury.

Things went wrong for Klaiber in a match game, where he went to the ground screaming in pain. The full-back left the training field supported by two members of Ajax’s medical staff. Later he went back to the Netherlands on crutches. There is a fear of a torn cruciate ligament, which requires a rehabilitation period of six to nine months.

Klaiber has been playing for Ajax since October 1 last year, which paid 4.25 million euros for him to FC Utrecht. The right back was mainly on the bench behind Noussair Mazraoui and Devyne Rensch, but eventually made 22 official matches for Ajax. Klaiber decided to opt for an international career with Suriname this year and played with the country in the Gold Cup.
