Internazionale continues to perform poorly in Serie A. The team of trainer Simone Inzaghi did not get further than a draw against Fiorentina on Saturday in front of its own audience: 1-1. Denzel Dumfries scored for the reigning champion, who has only seven points left from the last seven league matches. Inter, which took office without the injured Stefan de Vrij, is on sixty points, three less than Napoli and fellow city rivals AC Milan.
Fiorentina succeeded in Milan for the nineteenth time this season not to concede a goal before halftime: only leader Napoli (22) succeeded in this more often this football year. The first act was certainly not a spectacle: it was Fiorentina that more often took the attack, while Inter’s lack of confidence due to the mediocre results in recent weeks was clearly visible.

Inter have won just two of their previous eight encounters in all competitions, falling behind six minutes after the break. After a good individual play by Nicolás González on the right side of the penalty area, Lucas Torreira shot the ball in from close range: 0-1. The lead of la Viola stood for only five minutes. Ivan Perisic steamed up on the left side of the field and his cross was headed in well and diagonally at the far post by Dumfries: 1-1.
In the remaining half hour, the teams of Inzaghi and Vincenzo Italiano failed to get the scoreboard moving again. Ten minutes after the 1-1, Inter was awarded a penalty for an alleged foul on Lautaro Martínez, but after VAR interference, the referee noted a handball in the build-up. Robin Gosens participated in the last ten minutes as a replacement for Perisic. The injured Sofyan Amrabat was missing from Fiorentina.
Napoli won 2-1 against Udinese on Saturday and has three points more than Inter, but also one game less in the legs. AC Milan will play an away game against number seventeen Cagliari on Saturday evening. At the time of writing, the shared leader has as many duels as i Nerazzurri†
