Hakim Ziyech will almost certainly not return to Ajax this transfer period. Alfred Schreuder declares at the press conference on Friday that Chelsea’s attacking midfielder is currently not an option in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The Ajax trainer also thinks that Ziyech, who is stuck in London until mid-2025, cannot currently be paid for the Amsterdam club. The Telegraph recently reported that Ajax is still looking for reinforcements for the right wing position.

“I think we are well occupied in the front,” Schreuder emphasizes on Friday at the press moment prior to the resumption in the Eredivisie against NEC on Sunday. “Everyone knows that Hakim is a great player, but he also has a price tag. That is not our priority at the moment.” Ziyech was already linked to a return to Ajax last summer, which did not get off the ground at the time. Six months later, a second employment of the Morocco international in Amsterdam seems definitively out of the question.

Journalist Ben Jacobs van CBS Sports reported before the holidays that Ziyech would “love it” to return to Ajax this winter, provided a good offer comes in from Chelsea. Earlier, AC Milan was also concrete for the 29-year-old playmaker from Chelsea, but that interest would have cooled by now.

Ziyech cannot count on a permanent place under manager Graham Potter the Blues. The attacking midfielder, who reached the semi-finals at the World Cup with Morocco, had a basic place against Manchester City on Thursday evening. The former Ajax player was taken off prematurely by Potter and Chelsea eventually lost 0-1.
