Alfred Schreuder has announced through the official channels of Ajax that Steven Berghuis is doing well. The thirty-year-old left leg dropped out during the Nations League match with Belgium (1-0 win) with back problems, but has now resumed training. The head coach also reports that Ahmetcan Kaplan’s knee injury appears to be not too bad.

Berghuis therefore seems to have recovered in time for the home game against Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday evening. “Fortunately, things are going well, he was able to train with us today. Steven has been treated well and I have the feeling that it will be fine.” Berghuis had to leave the field after 31 minutes against the Belgians. PSV player Cody Gakpo therefore entered the field as a replacement in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Kaplan and Jorge Sánchez will not be there against Go Ahead. The Turk was feared that he would be out for a long time, but that seems to be not too bad. “Ahmetcan Kaplan has suffered a knee injury. That seems to work, but it remains to be seen how long that will take. Furthermore, Jorge Sánchez still has a minor injury. That will get better, we hope that he can rejoin within a week.”

Ajax is ready for the resumption of the competition against Go Ahead, says Schreuder. “We know roughly how they are on the field. I expect a dominant Ajax, against a team that wants to play on the counter or is sometimes forced to play like that. We have to make sure that we get results.” The kick-off in the Johan Cruijff ArenA will be taken on Saturday evening at 8 p.m. Referee Alex Bos will whistle the game.
