Not Genoa, but Eintracht Frankfurt will be the new temporary employer of Sam Lammers. Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano know that Atalanta will rent the 24-year-old striker to the German club, which has not negotiated an option to buy. It Eindhovens Dagblad already reported on Monday about talks between Atalanta and Eintracht Frankfurt about the lease of Lammers.

Lammers seemed to be on his way to Genoa earlier this month. Several Italian media reported that only a medical examination separated the striker from a temporary transfer to Genoa. Genoa accepted a €17.5 million offer from AS Roma for Eldor Shomurodov early this month and also waved goodbye to another attacker, Gianluca Scamacca, who had been hired from Sassuolo last season. For that reason, the current number nineteen of the Serie A was particularly interested in Lammers, although Cagliari was also in the market for him.

Atalanta was also in favor of Lammers’ lease with Genoa. Feyenoord Transfermarkt reported that Feyenoord reached a personal agreement with Lammers, who was willing to hand in salary for a rental period in Rotterdam. However, Atalanta preferred to keep him in Serie A so that he could get used to the way of playing football in the Italian league. In that regard, Lammers has now taken a striking turn, as he will play for Eintracht Frankfurt on a rental basis next season. Carlos Vinícius was also an option for that Adler, but he is going to leave Benfica on a rental basis for PSV.

In his first season in Bergamo, Lammers could not always count on a permanent place in the vanguard. Lammers closed the 2020/21 season with just two goals in nineteen games. PSV sold the attacker to Atalanta almost a year ago for ten million euros. Eintracht Frankfurt finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season and is therefore playing in the group stage of the Europa League this season. With two points from three games, the German club – which lost a striker with André Silva earlier this summer and brought back a striker with Rafael Borré – has started the new season moderately.
