Sam Lammers may make the switch to the Bundesliga on the final day of the transfer period. Rik Elfrink from the Eindhovens Dagblad reports Monday that the Atalanta attacker is in talks with the leadership of Eintracht Frankfurt about a rental period. Both clubs still have to reach a final agreement before white smoke will appear. Elfrink expects that there will only be a definitive answer on Tuesday, the last day of the transfer window.

According to Elfrink, there is also Italian interest in Lammers, who will be with Atalanta until mid-2023. In his first season in Bergamo, the former PSV player could not always count on a permanent place in the vanguard. Lammers closed the 2020/21 season with just two goals in nineteen games. PSV sold the 24-year-old attacker to Atalanta almost a year ago for ten million euros.

In mid-August it still seemed that Lammers would return to the Eredivisie. Feyenoord Transfermarkt knew two weeks ago that Feyenoord had made a serious attempt to recruit the attacker. The Rotterdammers even personally agreed with the Atalanta striker, who was willing to hand in salary. Atalanta, however, prefers to store Lammers in the lower regions of the Serie A, so it sounded at the time. For a long time, Genoa seemed to have the best papers to bring in the Dutchman and an agreement had even been reached on a rental deal without an option to buy.

Genoa is looking for a new striker after the club accepted an offer of 17.5 million euros from AS Roma for Eldor Shomurodov at the beginning of this month. Genoa also waved goodbye to another attacker, Gianluca Scamacca, who was hired from Sassuolo last season. The club from the port city mainly brought in transfer-free players and spent 1.8 million euros for attacker Caleb Ekuban from Trabzonspor. It is not known how concrete the interest in Lammers is at the moment.
