Eintracht Frankfurt and Fenerbahçe balanced each other on Thursday evening. The duel in Group D of the Europa League was broken open by Mesut Özil, but Sam Lammers equalized with his debut goal for Eintracht. In a crazy final phase, the Germans escaped defeat. At the same time, trainer Peter Bosz was 0-2 too strong for the Rangers of manager Steven Gerrard in Group A.

Eintracht Frankfurt – Fenerbahce 1-1
The team of coach Vítor Pereira, who started with Ferdi Kadioglu in the starting line-up, took the lead before the end of the first quarter. After a nice combination football, Mesut Özil laid the ball for Mert Hakan Yandas, who shot hard at the bar. However, the attack continued and after a carembole in front of the goal, Ozil suddenly took possession of the ball, after which he shot in through the hands of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. On the stroke of half-time it was Lammers’ turn. Kristijan Jakic sent Filip Kostic down the left flank. The number 10 then had a nice cross in the house to the Dutchman, who finished from close range in a cold-blooded way: 1-1.

Fifteen minutes after the break, Lammers even thought to make his second of the evening. The striker scored on a pass from Daichi Kamada, but the linesman on duty raised his flag a few seconds later: offside. Kostic had the 2-1 on his shoe fifteen minutes before the end, but his attempt was improved by goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. In the end, Frankfurt escaped defeat in extremis. In the ninetieth minute, Trapp committed a foul within the box, after which Dimitrios Pelkas was allowed to lay down for a penalty. Trapp, however, chose the right angle and parried the bet. In the 93rd minute, Mergim Berisha thought he would still win for Fenerbahçe, but after watching the video images, his respective goal was disallowed.

Rangers – Olympique Lyon 0-2
After an even opening phase, it was Bosz’s team that opened the score after 23 minutes. Karl Toko Ekambi was played on the left, after which he pulled in at lightning speed and made an excellent strike with the right: 0-1. Ten minutes after the restart, Lyon doubled the lead. After a carembole in front of Rangers’ goal, Islam Slimani suddenly got the ball at his feet. Slimani lunged from close range and found the goal through James Tavernier’s leg, who scored an own goal. Tavernier still had the opportunity to compensate for his goal in his own goal, but he hit the post hard from a free kick. In the other game in Group A, Sparta Prague and Bröndby kept each other level in a scoreless game.
