Ajax cannot have Ryan Gravenberch in the remaining part of the title race, reports The Telegraph† The nineteen-year-old midfielder suffered an ankle injury during training and was given a cast in hospital. Gravenberch, who is in the serious interest of Bayern Munich, may have already played his last duel for Ajax with it.

Gravenberch is expected to need six weeks to recover from his ankle injury. His season at Ajax is now over and the midfielder starts a race against time to reach the end of the football season with the the Dutch squad. The Dutch national team will play in the Nations League four times from 3 to 14 June, the tournament that Louis van Gaal sees as crucial preparation for the World Cup later this year. Gravenberch was not called up last international break, but has since performed formidable at Ajax and seemed to have a good chance of a comeback in the Dutch.

Bayern Munich is still in battle with Ajax for the signature of Gravenberch, who is still one year in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The youngster himself has already largely personally agreed with the national champion of Germany. Ajax requires according to The Telegraph a transfer fee of a total of thirty million euros, but Bayern will not go further than a fixed amount of seventeen million euros plus six million euros in variables.
