Ryan Flamingo hopes to be left with a transfer to a Dutch top club after his good performance in Italy, it reports Eindhovens Dagblad says the nineteen-year-old defender of Sassuolo. Flamingo, who moved from Almere City FC to Italy last summer, has already scored fourteen goals (of which seven penalties) as a rearguard player for Sassuolo’s Under 19s this season and is already in the interest of PSV.

The Italian sports newspapers regularly fill their pages with the striking performances of Flamingo, who went through the youth academy of Almere City. With his fourteen goals, Flamingo is almost the top scorer of the Under 19 competition, and that as a defender. Italian media has raved about both the youngster’s offensive and defensive performances. Sassuolo’s Under-19s have so far conceded the least number of goals of any team in the competition, where it is not competing for the top spots with an eighth place. According to sports journalists in Italy, it is only a matter of time before the defender will make his debut in Sassuolo’s first.

The defender still has a contract in Italy that links him to the club until 2025, but does not indicate a switch to the Eredivisie despite the long contract term. The goal-getter would be in the interest of PSV, among other things, but the people of Eindhoven have not yet continued. PSV already has promising talents in that position with Jenson Seelt and Emmanuel van de Blaak.

Flamingo previously played for Almere City, but opted for a departure when he fell out of the boat for the A-selection in the preparation – despite promises made. The youngster said about this at the end of last year ELF Football: “I decided that I really wanted to go, because I thought it was important to keep playing football. I’m still young and playing minutes are important right now. A number of clubs from Germany and Italy reported to my agent, including Sassuolo. I thought it was an honor that these clubs were already knocking on the door. My choice for Sassuolo was made quickly.” Hedwiges Maduro, trainer of the Under 21 at Almere City, recently complemented the defender on Twitter. “Proud of Ryan. From the Under 21 to a Serie A club. Hard work pays off,” said the former player of Ajax and Valencia, among others.

On ELF Football Flamingo told which aspects of the profession he would like to appropriate more. “I would like to control my teammates even more. I think Virgil van Dijk is a good example of a defender who can do this very well. I would love to become a leader like him. I also want to score more goals. I go forward with corners and regularly find myself in situations where I can score.”
