It seems that George Ilenikhena will leave Royal Antwerp FC a year after his arrival. The only seventeen-year-old attacker, who was brought to De Bosuil by Marc Overmars last summer, is of great interest to AS Monaco.

Belgian media, including The last news and The newspapaer think they know for sure. Ilenikhena will soon make the transfer to AS Monaco for 20 million euros.

The Monegasques seemed to be taking Georges Mikautadze for a long time, but the former Ajax player opted for an adventure at Olympique Lyon. As an alternative, all arrows are now aimed at Ilenikhena.

According to The Team paid Overmars around 6 million euros for Ilenikhena last summer. The attacker was acquired from French second division club Amiens SC, where he made a big impression as a teenage talent.

Although no exact amounts are mentioned, it is assumed that Antwerp can expect a multiple of the 6 million euros paid last year. Ilenikhena still has a long-term contract until mid-2027 and an estimated market value of 10 million euros.

Ilenikhena impressed at Antwerp by scoring the winning goal in the Champions League against FC Barcelona. In total, he scored 14 times in 50 matches in all competitions. He was a provider once.

For Antwerp, the millions are more than welcome, as it is common knowledge that the club is in financial trouble. Antwerp wants to become less dependent on the money of owner Paul Gheysens.
