Cristiano Ronaldo has come under fire in Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese star player of Al-Nassr made an obscene gesture towards the home crowd on Tuesday evening after the league match against Al-Hilal (2-0 loss). Supporters of the arch-rival frequently chanted the name of Lionel Messi, after which Ronaldo grabbed his genitals. Such a gesture is prohibited in Saudi Arabia.

Nouf bin Ahmed, a well-known Saudi lawyer, is so furious that he has started a petition to arrest Ronaldo and have him deported from the country. “I don’t follow the sport,” said the lawyer. “But even if the public provoked Ronaldo, he should never have reacted in this way. His behavior is a crime in this country, and the law prescribes that foreigners who make such a gesture must be deported. We are going to present the petition to the Public Ministry.”

Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr has responded to the attacker’s action and says it is an injury. “He was hit in a very sensitive area. This is confirmed information. The fans can think what they want.” Al-Nassr argues that Ronaldo was hit in the private parts during a duel with an opponent, which would result in this. During the game, Ronaldo already received a yellow card after a struggle with someone from Al-Hilal.

Al-Nassr had to win against the great arch-rival to put himself in a good starting position for the national title. Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, however, scored twice from the penalty spot to give the home side a 2-0 win. Ronaldo’s goal was controversially disallowed for offside. Due to the defeat, the gap to Al-Ittihad is three points. The leader also played a game less.
