Rudi Garcia is no longer Al-Nassr’s trainer, the Saudi club confirmed via official channels on Thursday. Lesser results are the basis for the dismissal of the French coach, although Cristiano Ronaldo did not maintain a happy relationship with Garcia either. The Croatian Dinko Jelicic, the trainer of Al-Nassr Under 19 temporarily takes over the honors.

According to Mark the sporting achievements and the disturbed relationship between Garcia and his players are the basis for Garcia’s dismissal. The last straw for Al-Nassr would have been a confrontation with his players in the dressing room. Ronaldo also complained to the club management. The Portuguese reportedly hoped for the dismissal of his trainer, which has now actually happened.

Garcia succeeded Miguel Angel Russo as coach of Al-Nassr in the summer of 2022. Under the leadership of the 59-year-old coach, Ronaldo’s club had to leave the Saudi Super Cup to ?Al-Ittihad. Last Sunday, Al-Nassr suffered a costly loss of points in the battle for the championship. Due to the 0-0 draw at number eleven Al-Feiha, Al-Nassr is now three points behind leader Al-Ittihad, with seven games to play.

After the goalless draw against Al-Feiha, it was already clear that there were great frustrations. Ronaldo was white-hot from the draw. He showed his irritation towards the opponent, who, according to him, wasted too much time. “You don’t want to play,” he snapped at the Al-Fayha players before he angrily went to the dressing room. Earlier in the game, Ronaldo was also seen gesturing to the opposing players to keep their mouths shut.
