Cristiano Ronaldo has finally made himself heard after weeks of speculation. In a comment on Instagram, he elaborates on the ongoing rumors about his future at Old Trafford. The Portuguese star striker is lying to the media and promises to reveal all about his situation at Manchester United. “They will know the truth when I give an interview in a few weeks,” Ronaldo said.

Ronaldo’s outburst comes as the 37-year-old can still leave United as the summer transfer window in England closes on September 1. The Red Devils have had a disastrous start to the season with defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion (0-2) and Brentford (4-0) and there are concerns that the squad has been negatively impacted by Ronaldo’s desire to leave.

With a cryptic response to a post on Instagram, Ronaldo is now addressing the recent speculation. “They’ll know the truth when I give an interview in a few weeks,” Ronaldo said in a post from ‘cr7.o_lendario’. “The media tells lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months there have been a hundred posts about me, only five of which were correct. Imagine what that is like.”

Several England media outlets have claimed that Ronaldo could leave Old Trafford as early as this month, but only if he can find a club willing to buy him. That does not appear to be the case at the moment, because according to The Telegraph United has not yet received ‘a single offer’ for his star striker. United are nevertheless increasingly concerned that Ronaldo is looking to force a break and are looking to tear up the final year of his contract so he can look for a new club on a free transfer.

The Telegraph wrote that the Mancunians are confident this won’t happen, while manager Erik ten Hag reportedly still wants to try and keep Ronaldo, given his scoring ability. But according to the quality paper, there has been ‘consternation’ at Ronaldo’s behavior since he joined United’s roster late in pre-season due to personal reasons. The club have resigned that they might be better off without the turmoil caused by Ronaldo’s presence as United look to put their poor start to the season behind them.
