The manager’s position is under pressure after a 0-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and a 1-1 draw against Granada. “The financial situation of the club is related to the sporting achievements, so we have to rebuild the team without being able to make major investments,” Koeman made clear. “Fortunately, rebuilding will give young players opportunities, like Xavi and Iniesta in their day, but patience is important. A high finish in LaLiga would be a success.”
“We cannot expect miracles in the Champions League,” the coach continues. “The defeat to Bayern must be viewed from that perspective. The team must be supported in word and gesture in this situation. The press also understand that this process is taking place. This is not the first time that the club has found itself in this situation.
