Zinedine Zidane will be for the selection of Paris Saint-Germain from the 2022/23 season, or perhaps even earlier, it assures RMC Sports. According to journalist Daniel Riolo, who works for the French television channel, the transfer of the former Real Madrid coach is certain, regardless of how Mauricio Pochettino’s team performs this season. Even winning the much-dreamed Champions League is said to be no reason for the club management to put an end to a future collaboration between Zidane and PSG.

Pochettino was appointed a year ago to succeed the fired Thomas Tuchel. In this time frame, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions were conquered, but the league title went to Lille OSC and the Champions League again did not go to Paris. In recent months there has been a lot of speculation about the continuity of Pochettino, who, according to RMC Sports would not be able to control PSG’s ‘awkward dressing room’. Despite this, the club owners also did not cooperate with an interim departure when Manchester United reported after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s meeting.

PSG had a spectacular transfer summer with the arrival of Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi. The club also did not cooperate with a transfer from Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid. However, this season of football is not yet a well-oiled machine, even though PSG as the leader of Ligue 1 has a lead of no less than thirteen points over number two OGC Nice. Pochettino’s side have so far failed to win nearly a third of their games in all competitions: 9 out of 28.

Zidane, 49, has so far only worked at Real Madrid. In his first period of 2.5 years he won the Champions League three times. The Frenchman decided to resign shortly after that third overall victory. Zidane returned to the Real Madrid bench in early 2019, but after a disappointing season he again opted to leave in May last year. According to Riolo, Zidane’s future will be in Paris from next summer. Or perhaps even sooner if PSG’s performance is not convincing. Next month, the important confrontation with Real Madrid in the eighth finals of the Champions League is on the program.

Riolo also indicates that Zidane’s arrival is separate from Mbappe’s future. The attacker seems to be leaving for Real Madrid, the club of his dreams, in the summer on a free transfer. He was already close to moving to the Spanish capital at the age of fourteen, but in the end he decided against it. At the time, during a visit to the training complex of the Royal, he also met his idols, Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo. Whether or not Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, the arrival of Zidane to Paris is certain, according to Riolo. The question is whether the arrival of Zidane is a reason for Mbappe to stay.
