Ansu Fati is part of Barcelona’s match selection for the home game against Levante on Sunday at 4.15 pm. The eighteen-year-old attacker has been sidelined since November last year with a complicated knee injury. Fati was operated on no less than three times and has now received the green light from the medical staff.

Fati injured his knee in a home game against Real Betis on November 7 last year and had more than ten months to recover. A hard blow for both club and player, as he had an excellent start last season with five goals in ten matches. In total, the teenager’s counter stands at 13 goals in 41 official matches of Barcelona.

A boost for Ronald Koeman, who is not allowed to sit on the bench because of a suspension. Jordi Alba, Pedri, Ousmane Dembélé, Sergio Agüero and Martin Braithwaite are in the infirmary, while Frenkie de Jong is suspended. Koeman therefore has to rely on some players from Barcelona B.

“Ansu’s return is great news,” Koeman emphasized at the press conference on Saturday. “He will play at most fifteen minutes. We want him to recover well, we are not in a hurry and we do not want to overload him. Hopefully we can continue that plan.”

“El regreso de Ansu es una gran noticia. Jugará como máximo 15 minutos. Queremos recuperarle bien, no correr prisa y no queremos sobrecargarle. Ojalá que podamos seguir este plan”.
