Mark Diemers is in talks with Fortuna about a return to Sittard, reports Football International Tuesday evening. Diemers was already linked to Vitesse, SC Cambuur, several German clubs and FC Luzern this summer. According to previous reports, the midfielder would prefer to work abroad, but now seems to remain in the Eredivisie and return to his old love.

Sjors Ultee is very charmed by the 28-year-old midfielder, who is also still in the interest of Vitesse. Diemers’ salary turned out to be too much for Cambuur. The right leg already played for Fortuna between 2018 and 2020 and grew into a true public favorite. In 67 official matches for Fortuna, Diemers was good for sixteen goals and seventeen assists. In Sittard he stood out several times with great standard situations. Feyenoord would be willing to let him leave on a free transfer.

In the past season, the playmaker still played on a rental basis for Hannover 96 and that club wanted to continue with him. However, it did not come to an agreement and so Diemers rejoined the selection of Feyenoord, which collected him for a million euros from Fortuna two years ago. Under Arne Slot he does not have to count on playing time and so a departure is a logical consequence. In the 2020/21 season, the midfielder under Dick Advocaat made 38 official matches for the Rotterdam team, but he was unable to leave an indelible impression.

Diemers started his career at Cambuur, which then sold him to FC Utrecht and hired him for another year. After four years in the Dom city, the playmaker decided to seek refuge at De Graafschap, where he really broke through in Dutch professional football. Diemers eventually ended up at Feyenoord via Fortuna. Diemers was mentioned in mid-June at the Swiss Lucerne, but it did not come to a transfer. Possible new adventures in Germany and Denmark also failed to materialize.
