RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has spoken to Sky Deutschland indicated that they have good hopes for a longer stay for Xavi Simons. Essential for retaining the 21-year-old playmaker is qualification for the Champions League.

Simons came over on loan from Paris Saint-Germain this year. The Paris club had the option to buy Simons back from PSV last summer, but immediately rented the Dutch international to Leipzig.

With seven goals and ten assists in the Bundesliga, Simons is indispensable in Rose's selection. That is why the German coach has already stated several times that he would like to have access to the 21-year-old Amsterdammer for longer.

Simons plays an important role for Rose this season in Leipzig's strong season. Rose emphasizes in the same conversation with Sky Deutschland that the attacking midfielder is part of his plans next season.

''We don't have that completely in our own hands. It is important that we qualify for the Champions League. Then we hope to be able to keep him here for a year or two years, that would do him good. We should not see ourselves as a conduit and remain ambitious. It must be rewarding to come and stay in Leipzig.”

In Rose's conversations with Simons, he gets the impression that the 21-year-old right foot feels good at Leipzig and would like to stay. ''I get the feeling that he feels good here. He is developing excellently here and he is playing in a good environment. I am positive that he will play here again next year.”

Rose is not the only one to praise the former FC Barcelona and PSG player. PSG coach Luis Enrique is also said to be very charmed by Simons' good play, according to French media. The Spanish trainer may want to include him in his plans at PSG next year.

Rose wants to prevent that. The German coach does not want the same exodus as last year, in which his team was completely emptied. However, that danger does exist. According to Sky Amadou Haidara, Dani Olmo, Benjamin Sesko and Mohamed Simakan could make a move at the end of this season.
