OGC Nice is considering firing Lucien Favre, reports Nice Matin. Les Aiglons have started the new season disappointingly and the French are said to see a possible successor to Favre in Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine coach has been without a club since his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

Nice are currently thirteenth in Ligue 1 with just two wins in eight games. Last Sunday, the fourth defeat of the season was already suffered at home against Angers (0-1). According to Nice Matin The club is now considering a coach change. Favre returned to Nice this summer after Christophe Galtier’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain.

Favre was already coach of Nice between 2016 and 2018. He finished third and sixth in Ligue 1 at the time, earning a transfer to Borussia Dortmund, who sacked the 64-year-old coach in December 2020 due to disappointing results. Favre’s second contract with Nice could turn out to be a disappointment, because the poor start to the season makes it questionable how long he will be in front of the group of players in the southern French seaside resort.

Nice, which is owned by the British chemical company INEOS, would like to reinforce its ambitions by appointing a top European trainer. Pochettino’s name has also been mentioned. The Argentine coach has been without a club since he was sacked by PSG this summer. Pochettino had been under fire at the elite club for some time and left Paris after a year and a half. He joined the PSG board at the beginning of July to evaluate the 2021/22 season, after which it was decided in good consultation to end the collaboration.
