Radamel Falcao once again proved his worth for Rayo Vallecano on Sunday evening. The Colombian striker made a major contribution to the 3-1 victory over Cádiz with a goal. The win brings Rayo Vallecano to thirteen points and climbs to fifth place.

Falcao was accurate in his debut against Getafe (3-0 win) and then also scored in his second game against Athletic Club (1-2 win). On Sunday evening, he let the net swell from half-time. After a good action by Ivan Balliu on the right wing, Falcao reported to the first post to make it 2-1. He is now Rayo Vallecano’s second-ever player to score in his first three games in LaLiga. The only other player to do this was Diego Costa in the 2011/12 season.

Rayo Vallecano had taken the lead after nine minutes via Álvaro Garcia. On a pass from Jens Jonsson, Varazdat Haroyan then signed for the equalizer on behalf of Cádiz, which managed to keep Barcelona at a 0-0 draw last Thursday. After Falcao’s goal, the margin was brought to two by Isi Palazon deep in the second half. He released himself nicely and shot hard from twenty meters. Falcao was already off the field by then; his match was over after an hour of play.
