PSV will meet Maccabi Tel Aviv in the interim round of the Conference League, while Vitesse may be waiting for a meeting with Rapid Wien, the draw in Nyon revealed on Monday.

PSV finished third in a Europa League group behind AS Monaco and Real Sociedad. The team from Eindhoven was therefore linked to a number two from the Conference League. FK Bodö/Glimt, Maccabi Tel Aviv, PAOK Saloniki, Partizan Belgrade, Randers FC, Slavia Prague and Qarabag were among the possible opponents.

UEFA did not provide any clarity about any European wintering of Vitesse. The last group match of group mate Tottenham Hotspur against Stade Rennes was canceled due to a corona outbreak at the Spurs, as a result of which the Football Association chose to use a ‘Vitesse/Tottenham Hotspur’ note during the draw. The Arnhem team could draw Celtic, Fenerbahçe, Olympique Marseille, FC Midtjylland, Rapid Wien and Sparta Prague. Teams from the same country could not meet, so Leicester City and PSV were not options in the draw.

The first legs of the intermediate round will be played on February 17, with the returns on February 24. AZ and Feyenoord only enter the eighth finals of the Conference League as group winners.

PSV played against an Israeli club four times in a European context. In the 2011/2012 season, the Europa League drew 3-3 at home against Hapoel Tel Aviv and won 0-1. Two years earlier, the Eindhoven team recorded two minimal victories (1-0 and 0-1) in the same tournament against Bnei Jehouda Tel Aviv. For Vitesse, a European duel against an Austrian opponent is scheduled for the first time in club history.
