PSV lost both wing tips with Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo on Thursday evening. The attackers suffered an injury in quick succession in the second half and had to be replaced by Yorbe Vertessen and Bruma respectively. PSV will visit Ajax in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
PSV’s Madueke grabbed his hamstring in the 55th minute of the Europa League match against AS Monaco and immediately indicated that he could not continue. Yorbe Vertessen came on as his replacement. The chance therefore seems small that Madueke can be used against Ajax on Sunday. Nine minutes later, Gakpo was knocked down after a header duel. The attacker grabbed his left lower leg or ankle and also immediately indicated that he wanted to be substituted.
Madueke had just returned from a muscle injury, which the Englishman sustained at the end of September in the league match against Go Ahead Eagles (1-2 win). Madueke then missed three matches for the Eindhoven team and made his comeback against PEC Zwolle (3-1 win) last Saturday.
