PSV wants to break Xavi Simons’ contract, it reports Eindhovens Dagblad wednesday night. The nineteen-year-old midfielder now has a contract that keeps him in Eindhoven until 2027, but the club would like to present an improved commitment. The main goal for PSV is to outplay Paris Saint-Germain, which, according to current agreements, can still rely on a buy-back clause.

Les Parisians have the chance to take over Simons from PSV for an amount of twelve million euros next summer, should the attacking midfielder himself be open to a return to the French capital. PSV is free to determine the transfer fee for any other interested club. The people of Eindhoven want to prevent Simons from leaving in the coming transfer period by upgrading the current contract, it sounds.

It is not yet clear whether PSV can easily get rid of the special PSG clause, which is said to be only valid until this summer. The newspaper reports that several more conversations with Simons will follow. According to reports, the latter is currently very happy in Eindhoven and so PSV considers itself promising.

Simons came over from PSG last summer on a free transfer and immediately managed to fight himself into the starting eleven of trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij. So far, the creative has started in all nineteen Eredivisie matches, in which he was accurate nine times and provided four assists.
