PSV knows which teams it will meet in the group stage of the Europa League. The draw, which was held on Friday afternoon in Istanbul, Turkey, linked the Eindhoven team to Arsenal, Bodø/Glimt and FC Zurich. PSV was in Pot 2 and has had a very strong opponent from Pot 1 with Arsenal.

The people from Eindhoven enter the group stage of the Europa League, because they lost to Rangers in the play-offs of the Champions League. After a 2-2 draw at Ibrox, the Scots lost 0-1 in their own Philips Stadium last Wednesday, who can show themselves in the billion-dollar ball and will play against Ajax, among other things. For PSV, the second European club tournament and matches against Arsenal, Bodø/Glimt and FC Zurich remain.

The confrontation with the Gunners, who finished fifth in the Premier League last season and had an excellent start this season, is on paper the most beautiful and the toughest for PSV. The Norwegian Bodø/Glimt stunted last season in the Conference League by winning the group stage against AS Roma and especially the away game on the artificial grass in the far north of Norway can be a tough one when it’s cold. At FC Zurich, which surprisingly became champion of Switzerland last year, former NEC player Jonathan Okita and Feyenoord target Wilfried Gnonto play.

Due to the World Cup in November and December, the group stage of the Europa League is being completed at a rapid pace. The first round is already scheduled for Thursday, September 8, followed by games on September 15, October 6, October 13, October 27 and November 3. Those are all Thursdays. The draw for the intermediate round will take place on November 7, and the numbers two of the Europa League groups will be involved. If PSV is first, the Eindhoven club will only know where it stands in February.
