Walter Benítez prevents PSV even greater disappointment in the final minute
PSV only had one point left in the first group match of the Europa League on Thursday evening. In the Philips Stadium, the people of Eindhoven bite their teeth on the defense of Bodø/Glimt: 1-1. Before halftime, the Norwegians took the lead via Albert Gronbaek, after which Cody Gakpo equalized the score in the second half on a pass from Anwar El Ghazi. In the final minute, goalkeeper Walter Benítez prevented the visitors from taking the win with a nice save.

Comeback led by Santiago Giménez comes too late for Feyenoord
Feyenoord has started the group stage of the Europa League in a disappointing way. On a visit to Lazio, the team of trainer Arne Slot lost 4-2. The score was opened in the fourth minute by Luis Alberto, after which Felipe Anderson and Matías Vecino (twice) took care of the rest of the Roman goal production. Santiago Giménez was responsible for both goals from the Rotterdam team.

Dani de Wit drags AZ to difficult victory in Conference League
AZ has three points left over against Dnipro-1 in the Conference League. Pascal Jansen’s team had a hard time against the Ukrainian team, but a goal from Dani de Wit was enough for the victory: 0-1. Both teams did not show great football, but the victory allowed the Alkmaarders to continue their advance in Europe. Because Apollon Limassol and FC Vaduz shared the points (0-0), AZ is leading in Group E.

Shocking images from Nice: steward smashes the brain of a Köln fan with an object
Due to supporter riots, the kick-off of the Conference League match between OGC Nice and 1. FC Köln had to be postponed. Although the atmosphere was still pleasant shortly before the start of the match, the atmosphere in the stadium changed quickly. Firecrackers were thrown and the supporters attacked each other. Various French media also reported that a person had fallen from the stands. There were also images on social media of a flight attendant hitting a Köln fan with a metal object.

Piet Schrijvers, ‘the bear of De Meer’, died at the age of 75
Piet Schrijvers passed away at the age of 75. The former goalkeeper played for FC Twente and Ajax, among others, and was nicknamed ‘The bear of De Meer’ in Amsterdam. In total he played 46 international matches for the Dutch national team and he attended the 1974 and 1978 World Cups. Schrijvers had been ill for several years and turned 75.
