Paris Saint-Germain issued a statement on Monday evening in response to Neymar’s accusations against Olympique Marseille defender Álvaro González, whom he accused of racism. During Sunday evening’s match between the two clubs, González is said to have made a racist statement against Neymar. PSG expresses support for the Brazilian striker on the club’s website.

“Paris Saint-Germain fully supports Neymar after he has indicated that he has been racistly treated by an opponent”, it sounds like. PSG states that there is no room for racism in society and on the football field. “The club calls on everyone to speak out against racism.” The club also says it’s looking forward to the French Association’s investigation. “We’re counting on the disciplinary committee of the French Football Association to investigate the facts. The club is, of course, willing to cooperate.”

Neymar indicated during the match that González had made a racist remark. There was a fight on the pitch just before time, after which Neymar tapped González on the back of the head. The PSG attacker was sent off the pitch in red and then complained to the fourth official. Later in the evening and on the night from Sunday to Monday, he did not engage in social media. “The only thing I regret is that I didn’t hit him in the face,” Neymar said on Twitter.
