Paris Saint-Germain have made an ‘incredible mistake’ by releasing images of Kylian Mbappe’s injury, Olivier Dacourt said. The attacker had to leave training on Monday after Idrissa Gueye stepped on his foot. Following these images, Gueye and his wife have received insults and threats via social media, writes L’Equipe

During a match exercise, Gueye stood hard on Mbappé’s foot, who went to the ground with a pained face and eventually could not continue. Soon after the news came out that Mbappé had left training injured, the images appeared on social media. “It’s an unbelievable mistake. Those images should never come out,” said Olivier Dacourt – 21-time French international and former midfielder of Everton, Leeds United, AS Roma and Internazionale – in the program. “All Real Madrid players have seen these images. You can clearly see where exactly Gueye steps on Mbappe’s foot. In the first actions, the Real Madrid players will immediately look for that spot. This is the Champions League, it’s very alarming. These images should never have come out,” Dacourt said. The reason given by the former international is not the only consequence of the images of the incident. Gueye and his wife were forced to disable comments on their social media accounts, following the hateful and abusive messages.

Mbappé already took it up for Gueye in a message on Instagram on Monday evening. “All together, always. This is Paris,” the attacker wrote with a photo that shows him celebrating a goal with the midfielder. Mbappé is ‘just’ part of the match selection for the away match against Real Madrid, in which PSG defends a 1-0 lead from the first leg of the eighth final of the Champions League. “The additional investigation was reassuring and will be reviewed during the day,” PSG announced on Tuesday morning about Mbappe’s status.
