Paris Saint-Germain will do everything they can in the summer of 2023 to reel in Bernardo Silva. That reports the Spanish Relev, which also knows that this means bad news for Barcelona. The Catalans and especially trainer Xavi are very charmed by the Manchester City midfielder, but are now facing stiff competition.
Two weeks ago, various Spanish media reported a meeting between the Barcelona management and agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Silva’s interests. A transfer of the Portuguese stylist was reportedly the subject of discussion at the time. Manchester City are willing to sell Silva for the right amount, so Barcelona are aiming for a summer transfer. In the summer window of 2022, an attempt to take over the playmaker still failed.
PSG was also interested then and that club, like Barcelona, is planning to throw out another line next summer. As the French club seems to have more financial resources than Barça, a bid from the Parisians would be bad news for Xavi and his club. Silva also played in France: between 2015 and 2017 he was under contract with AS Monaco, where he played with Kylian Mbappé. A transfer to PSG would mean a reunion of the two.
The 28-year-old Silva, who still has a contract until mid-2025 at the Etihad Stadium, was taken over by City from Monaco in 2017 for fifty million euros. Since then he has been an indispensable part of the selection of trainer Pep Guardiola, who often uses the Portuguese as a playmaker or right winger.
