It is still unclear who will succeed Mauricio Pochettino as Paris Saint-Germain coach. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, a name can be crossed out: that of José Mourinho. The Special One has decided to stay with AS Roma and so the Parisians are now targeting a trainer who is already active in Ligue 1: Christophe Galtier.

After the win against Feyenoord in the Conference League final, an emotional Mourinho was already clear about his future. “I will stay with Roma, there is no doubt. Even though there are rumors and more rumors to come, I want to stay with Roma. The club owners are wonderful people who want to build on this. I feel like Romanista.” Still, the rumors persisted in recent weeks. PSG technical director Luis Campos is good friends with Mourinho. Meanwhile, the Portuguese Roma has once again announced that he will remain as head coach.

The new target of PSG has therefore become Nice trainer Galtier. Nice finished in a respectable fifth place in Ligue 1 last season and left a good impression when it comes to football. At the club from the French seaside resort, Galtier is the trainer of Justin Kluivert, Calvin Stengs and Pablo Rosario, among others. When Galtier leaves for Paris, Vincent Kompany (who left Anderlecht) comes into the picture as his successor.

Galtier has only been active in France as head coach. He started his coaching career at Saint-Étienne where he spent almost eight seasons with the group. His greatest achievement as a trainer was the spectacular championship in the 2020/21 season with Lille. Last summer, the ambitious Nice bought him over and he signed a contract until mid-2024. With the interest from Paris, a next domestic switch seems very realistic. Although PSG will first have to officially part ways with Pochettino.
