Paris Saint-Germain is in pole position for the signature of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, so know Tuttosport Thursday to report. Both clubs would already have reached an agreement and it is expected that the deal will be completed next week. PSG is reportedly depositing 52 million euros for Koulibaly, an amount that can rise to a total of 59 million euros due to various bonuses.

The above-mentioned newspaper reports that Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is also still considering a bid by Manchester City for Koulibaly. However, it seems clear that PSG has the best papers to do business with i Partenopei. The president of Napoli wants to sell the central defender for a hefty transfer fee anyway. Some time ago an asking price of at least one hundred million euros was mentioned, but now the amount is a lot lower.

Manchester City seemed to become Koulibaly’s new employer at the beginning of August. Transfer expert Nicoló Shira reported at the time that the Citizens were going to take over the man for eighty million euros. For the 29-year-old defender a five-year contract was ready, with an annual salary of ten million euros. Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been associated with Koulibaly, who is unlikely to continue his career in the Premier League.

Koulibaly has a commitment at Napoli that runs for another three seasons. He has been a fixed value in the defense of the Italians for some time now and in terms of matches the counter now stands at 246. PSG is looking for a suitable replacement for Thiago Silva at the heart of the defence, who traded the losing Champions League finalist for Chelsea after eight seasons of transfer free.
