Kylian Mbappé was not substituted on Friday evening due to an injury. Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said this after the Ligue 1 match with AS Monaco (0-0). The attacker remained behind in the dressing room at half-time, after which he remarkably decided to take some selfies with fans and then took a seat in the stands, where his family were sitting.

It was not the first time in recent times that Mbappé was taken off prematurely. He was also substituted last week, at home against Stade Rennes (1-1). That happened in the 65th minute.

The outgoing star player was replaced again on Friday, after which he behaved remarkably. After the game, Enrique commented on the decision to replace Mbappé.

“This was 100 percent my decision,” said the PSG coach. “Sooner or later we have to get used to playing without Kylian. And as a trainer it is always my goal to find the best solution for the team. I thought this was the best this time.”

“I'm not in this game. I am a professional and I will repeat what I have already said until the game against Real Sociedad. There is no problem. As a coach you constantly make decisions about the team. I have now done that too. I don't want to argue, it was my decision.”

Meanwhile, know Le Parisien more about Mbappé's substitution and his relationship with the trainer. “Although the relationship between Luis Enrique and Mbappé has been based on respect, trust and dialogue from the beginning, the two have exchanged few words lately.”

“At half-time, Luis Enrique said in a cold sentence that Mbappé had gone off for Randal Kolo Muani, without any explanation. That touched his heart and without a doubt his pride,” the French newspaper concludes.
