Bournemouth secured promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday evening. At home, manager Scott Parker’s team was 1-0 too strong for close pursuer Nottingham Forest, which means that they are sure of second place in the Championship. Nottingham’s deficit to number two is six points with one game to go, which means that the Cherries are no longer traceable. Earlier, Fulham also managed to force promotion to the top division in England as champions.

For a long time it looked like the teams would keep each other in balance. In the 83rd, however, Bournemouth still managed to break the spell. After a free kick by Philip Billing, the ball ended up at Kieffer Moore, who scored convincingly from close range and outwitted goalkeeper Brice Samba: 1-0. With this, Moore gave his team a ticket to the Premier League, in which Bournemouth last played in 2020. The narrow victory and the promotion led to enormous celebration among the supporters, who stormed the field en masse afterwards.
