Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are closely monitoring Mason Mount’s contract situation, it has been reported ESPN. The 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder will run out of his contract at Stamford Bridge in mid-2024, but has not yet agreed a new contract with the Blues. Manager Graham Potter hopes Mount will sign a new contract soon.

Talks between the ex-Vitessenaar and Chelsea started last summer, but an agreement has not yet been reached. Negotiations have reportedly been very difficult in recent months. One stumbling block is Mount’s reluctance to commit to Chelsea for many years, which has become more common under new co-owner Todd Boehly. For example, the brand new million-dollar acquisitions Noni Madueke, Enzo Fernández and Mykhaylo Mudryk are stuck at Stamford Bridge until 2030 and 2031 respectively.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are watching Mount’s situation with interest. The Premier League top clubs would like to take advantage of the impasse surrounding the contract negotiations between the creative and Chelsea this summer. Juventus have also shown tentative interest in Mount, but the England international prefers a longer stay in England.

Mount is currently one of the lowest earning players in Potter’s squad with a weekly salary of €90,000 and wants his new salary to match his current status at the club. Reece James recently signed a new five-year contract against a huge salary increase. The right back now earns 280,000 euros a week from the Londoners. Mount is Chelsea’s most prolific player this season with three goals and six assists across all competitions.
