The Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace is still going on. The visitors had asked for a postponement due to a corona outbreak among players and staff, but the match will continue as the request has been rejected, according to English media. Manager Patrick Vieira, among others, has tested positive for the corona virus.

In total, four players and four staff members, including Vieira, have tested positive for the corona virus. Due to the corona outbreak, the club submitted an official request on Sunday morning to postpone the league game with Tottenham and make up at a later time. However, the Premier League has rejected a request from Crystal Palace to postpone the game with Tottenham. According to English media, the Premier League thought Palace’s request came too late.

Due to Vieira’s absence, the honors against Tottenham are temporarily taken over by assistant manager Osian Roberts. It’s a complete mess in the Premier League right now. As long as clubs had thirteen players and a goalkeeper available, football had to be played. As a result, the matches Liverpool – Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers – Watford and Burnley – Everton, while Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is missing from the bench during the game against Chelsea due to a positive corona test.

This week, the league organizer decided to play football on Boxing Day, despite a record 90 positive tests among players and staff members in the previous week. In the last round of matches, six games have already been canceled, which have not yet been made up.
There are six more Premier League games scheduled for Sunday. At the lower professional levels, only 10 of the 32 scheduled matches will take place. The Premier League game between Tottenham and Crystal Palace starts on Sunday at 4 p.m.
