Lamine Diaby-Fadiga will play for FC Eindhoven next season on a rental basis, the club announced through the official channels. The 21-year-old attacker comes from French second divisionist Paris FC, where he has been under contract since his ban from OGC Nice in 2019. Diaby-Fadiga made the news there as a pickpocket from Kasper Dolberg. and saw his contract torn apart as a result.

Diaby-Fadiga has only played sparingly in Paris in the past three seasons and managed to find the net 5 times in his total of 24 matches. However, there was not a single league goal; all hits were made against low flyers in the Coupe de France. Nevertheless, technical manager of Eindhoven Marc Scheepers is pleased. “Lamine is a player with a lot of potential that he has not yet been able to fully realize for various reasons. At FC Eindhoven we believe that we can make players with a scratch better and help them take the next step in their career.”

With the ‘scratch’, Scheepers seems to be aiming for the incident with Dolberg from September 2019. The Dane was robbed of his watch, worth 70,000 euros, shortly after his transfer from Ajax to Nice. Seven days later, Diaby-Fadiga pleaded guilty and was immediately fired by his club. Before his exit, the attacker came to six duels in the first of Nice. He failed to concede a single goal.

The arrival of Diaby-Fadiga means the sixth summer acquisition for Eindhoven. Previously, Pjotr Kestens, Yassine Azzagari (both NAC Breda), Moussa Sanoh (CS Mioveni) and Sven van Doorn (Telstar) were already brought in on a free transfer, while Willem de Groot came over from NEC Under 17. There was also a significant exodus. Last season, club top scorer Joey Sleegers, among others, left on a free transfer. Rob Penders’ team will hope to match next year as Eindhoven finished in third place in the Kitchen Champion Division
